BUT whoever trusts (John 14:17)

Fear of man will prove to be a snare,

    BUT
whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.
John 14:17
In the world today it is hard to comprehend what safe is.
I also can't imagine what life would be like without faith.

BUT with loud shouts (Luke 23:23)

BUT with loud shouts they insistently demanded that He (Jesus)be crucified, and their shouts prevailed.
Luke 23:23
As sad as it is to watch what is happening in cities around our country
I can't help but think about the riot that took place where the people demanded Jesus be crucified.
He was innocent- He forgave the very people that shouted to take His life.
We must pray for the people of our nation.

BUT you know Him (John 14:17)

The world cannot accept Him,
because it neither sees Him nor knows Him.
BUT you know Him,
for He lives with you and will be in you.
John 14:17
Do you "see" Jesus through out your day?

BUT you will follow later (John 13:36)

Simon Peter asked him,
 “Lord, where are you going?”
Jesus replied,
“Where I am going, you cannot follow now,
 BUT you will follow later.”
John 13:36
Follow Jesus on Earth you will follow Him later to Heaven. Jesus said so!

BUT later you will understand (John 13:7)

Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing,
BUT later you will understand.”
John 13:7
Just for laughs I feel like this is the way Jesus would say "Because I said so"

BUT if we were more discerning (1 Corinthians 11:31)

But if we were more discerning
 with regard to ourselves,
we would not come under such judgment.
1 Corinthians 11:31
This verse is in reference to the Lord's supper. BUT we should check ourselves every moment of every day.
It is fantastic for today's Christians. Okay here it goes.
If we would judge ourselves rather than so quickly judge others then maybe the others wouldn't judge Christians so harshly.
Think before you say or post something on line!

BUT make up your mind (Luke 21:14)

BUT make up your mind not to worry beforehand
how you will defend yourselves.
Luke 21:14
As our children were growing we tried to teach them to make up their mind beforehand about how they were going to handle situations they might find them selves in. What if someone asked them to cheat, lie, try cigarettes, become physically involved the list goes on.....
This is a great verse to place around the house.
1st as an opener to those conversations' and next as a gentle reminder to the whole family.
Be the example make up your mind today how you will handle situations and then you will spend less time worrying about yourself or your children.

BUT of the living. (Matthew 22:30-32)

Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.
At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
BUT about the resurrection of the dead—
have you not read what God said to you,
‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,
and the God of Jacob’?
He is not the God of the dead BUT of the living.”
Matthew 22:30-32
I am amazed at times of the questions people asked Jesus.
If a man is married to more then one person in his lifetime who will he be married to in heaven?
BUT I know I asked crazy questions too. I so often wonder about Heaven now that my Poppy and Crystal are there. There is so much talk about angels in this world BUT I wasn't really sure we will become angels. This verse nails it! We will be like angels! God is the god of the Living - our loved ones are alive!

BUT he did not go (Matthew 21:28-31)

What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’
 “‘I will not,’ he answered,
BUT later he changed his mind and went.
“Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing.
He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ BUT he did not go.
“Which of the two did what his father wanted?”
“The first,” they answered.
Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.
Matthew 21:28-31
I can't say it enough- IT IS A MATTER OF THE HEART! not what you say- or what people think they see- BUT what action your heart takes!

BUT also you can say to this mountain (Matthew 21:21)

Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree,
BUT also you can say to this mountain,
‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.
Matthew 21:21
Can you imagine this really? I don't know if my human mind could handle this power.
I am so glad my faith and trust is in Christ and I can trust Him to handle everything around me with a pure heart.

BUT the word of our God (Isaiah 40:8)

The grass withers and the flowers fall,
BUT the word of our God endures forever.
Isaiah 40:8

BUT will borrow from none (Deuteronomy 28:12)

The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations BUT will borrow from none.
Deuteronomy 28:12
Wow this one made me think of our nation this morning! Scary

BUT grow in the grace and knowledge (2Peter 3:18)

BUT grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
2 Peter 3:18
Notice that grace comes before knowledge. Sometimes it seems us Christians get caught up in what we know. Praise God for His grace that covers my stupidity.

BUT with humility (Proverbs 11:2)

When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
    BUT with humility comes wisdom.
Proverbs 11:2
There is nothing wrong with being proud of your accomplishments or the accomplishments of others. That is if with your pride you realize all you have has come from God.

BUT so we do not cause offense (Matthew 17:24-27)

After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma temple tax came to Peter and asked,
“Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?”
 “Yes, he does,” he replied.
When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. “What do you think, Simon?” he asked.
“From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes
from their own children or from others?”
 “From others,” Peter answered.
“Then the children are exempt,” Jesus said to him.
But so that we may not cause offense,
go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.”
Matthew 17:24-27
I thought this would be a great verse to share on Tax Day. Back in the day Tax collectors could not be trusted. I love how Jesus asked - Do kings collect taxes from their children? of course not. That is a great reminder that God does not take anything from His children. But we do live in this world for now and so we should pay our taxes! Even Jesus did.

BUT while he was still (Luke 15:19-20)

I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’  So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
Luke 15:19-20
This is such a beautiful picture of our Heavenly Father. NO MATTER WHAT you have done or the attitude you have had towards God, He is waiting for you to turn to Him. He will meet you WHERE YOU ARE AT. All you have to do is turn around.

BUT godliness with contentment (1 Timothy 6:6-7)

BUT godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into the world,
and we can take nothing out of it.
1 Timothy 6:6-7
Stop for a moment and enjoy "a state of peaceful happiness" no matter the storm that may seem to be surrounding you.

BUT whoever disowns me (Luke 12:8-10)

“I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me
before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.
BUT whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God.
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
Luke 12:8-10
Freedom of choice

BUT He was pierced (Isaiah 53:5)

BUT He was pierced for our transgressions,
    He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on Him,
and by His wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
On this Good Friday please take time to remember what He did
so you could live with peace and the hope of Eternity.

BUT not destroyed (2 Corinthians 4:7-9)

BUT we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that
this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
We are hard pressed on every side,
BUT not crushed;
 perplexed,
BUT
not in despair;
persecuted,
BUT not abandoned;
struck down,
BUT not destroyed.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9
So many BIG BUTS in this one.
No matter what you are going through today I hope this gets you excited!!
Read it again- Read it out loud! The enemy is defeated in the name of JESUS.
