BUT whoever trusts (John 14:17)

Fear of man will prove to be a snare,

    BUT 

whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

John 14:17

In the world today it is hard to comprehend what safe is.

 I also can't imagine what life would be like without faith.

BUT you know Him (John 14:17)

The world cannot accept Him, 

because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. 

BUT you know Him, 

for He lives with you and will be in you.

John 14:17

Do you "see" Jesus through out your day?

BUT you will follow later (John 13:36)

Simon Peter asked him,

 “Lord, where are you going?”

Jesus replied, 

“Where I am going, you cannot follow now,

 BUT you will follow later.”

John 13:36

Follow Jesus on Earth you will follow Him later to Heaven. Jesus said so!

BUT later you will understand (John 13:7)

 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing,

BUT later you will understand.”

John 13:7

Just for laughs I feel like this is the way Jesus would say "Because I said so"

BUT Jesus bent down (John 8:6-7)

They were using this question as a trap,

in order to have a basis for accusing him.

BUT Jesus bent down

 and started to write on the ground with his finger.

When they kept on questioning him,

 he straightened up and said to them,

“Let any one of you who is without sin

be the first to throw a stone at her.”

John 8:6-7

This is probably one of my favorite BUTS in the Bible.

Before you judge someone make sure you check your self first.

These men had brought a woman to Jesus who had been caught in the act of adultery

 (where was the guy). They wanted to see how Jesus would condemn her. Instead He started writing things in the sand and then they walked away.

BUT he who seeks glory (John 7:18)

Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, 

BUT he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him

 is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.

John 7:18

Be careful who you listen to. Is the person speaking so that you will like them or are they full of pride?

Also be careful when you speak - is your motivation to be liked? or to show people Christ in you?

BUT among you stands (John 1:26-27)

“I baptize with water,” John replied,

“BUT among you stands one you do not know.

He is the one who comes after me,

the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”

John 1:26-27

What amazes me about this verse is as John the Baptist is being challenged about Baptizing people Jesus is standing amongst the crowd. How often do we get caught up in what we think is right and miss spending time with Jesus as part of everyday life?

BUT the one and only Son (John1:18)

 No one has ever seen God,

BUT the one and only Son,

who is Himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made Him known.

John 1:18

Have you seen God? Draw close to Jesus and you will be amazed at how He will show you the Father. You don't have to physically see them to experience their love, grace and mercy. Steal a few minutes of your day today and look for God.

BUT judge (John 7:24)

 Do not judge by appearances, BUT judge with right judgment.

John 7:24

I really don't like the whole idea of judging BUT let's face it we all form opinions in every situation we go into. This verse helps us to keep things in perspective. Don't let appearance of people, environment or situations mislead you.

BUT has crossed over (John 5:24)

 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged BUT has crossed over from death to life.

John 5:24

The only thing stopping any one from eternal life is belief. 

BUT if it dies (John 12:24)

Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat
falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed.

BUT if it dies, it produces many seeds.

John 12:24

Are you going through a tough time this week? Fall into the arms of Jesus and as you die to your self and your desires, LET GO and watch what God can do. He has great plans for you!

BUT... the Holy Spirit (John 14:26)

 “All this I have spoken while still with you.

BUT..the Advocate, the Holy Spirit,

whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things

and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.

 I do not give to you as the world gives.

 Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14:26

When I read this verse this Good Friday morning it brought Joy to my heart. Thank you Jesus for being willing to die on the cross for me. Not only did you come back from the dead BUT you also sent the Holy Spirit to live with in me. I will not be afraid!

BUT have eternal life (3:16-17)

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish

BUT...

 have eternal life.

"For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, 

BUT...

 that the world might be saved through Him.…

John 3:16-17

I believe these are the 2 Biggest BUTs in the Bible. My prayer this Christmas is that you will look past all the packages and lights and take time to enjoy your greatest gift--- eternal life!

BUT...by Me (1 John 14:6)

Jesus said unto him,

 I am the way, the truth, and the life: 

no man comes to the Father, 

BUT by me.

John 14:6

Three simple words BUT by me. Can change your life. Jesus doesn't care what you have done,
what He cares about is you knowing and believing that
He loves you and He wants you to trust Him and acknowledge that He is the Boss of your life!

BUT... you will see me (John 14:19)

The Spirit of truth.
The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. 
BUT...you know him, for He lives with you and will be in you.
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 
Before long, the world will not see me anymore,
 BUT... you will see me. Because I live, you also will live

These are Jesus' words to us. When He went to be with His father he did not abandon us, He left us the Holy Spirit ( I like how He is referred to here as the Spirit of Truth). Remember the world can not see what we have in our heart. Today make it a practice to listen to the Spirit of Truth.

BUT... whoever drinks the water ( John 4:13-14)

Jesus answered, 

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,

BUT... 

whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 4 :13-14

This is an awesome story of a woman at the well. Jesus met here where she was at and that is how He wants to meet us. He sees passed any "dressing up" or "cleaning up" we might try to do. Are you constantly searching for something only to find your self searching for something else. That is the water Jesus is talking about. When we accept His plan for us we are satisfied and thus "never thirst"

BUT... take heart; I have overcome the world (John 16:33)

"I (Jesus) have said these things to you,

that in Me you may have peace.

 In the world you will have tribulation.

BUT... take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

Some people think that when you become a Christian your life will be easy. This verse reminds us that as long as we are on this earth we will have troubles.
BUT... when we look to Jesus we can overcome anything.

BUT... also for those who believe in ME (John 17:20-21)

I pray not only for these,

BUT…also for those who believe in Me through their message.

May they all be one, as You, Father, are in Me and I am in You.

May they also be one in Us, so the world may believe You sent Me

John 17:20-21

This was Jesus pray to the Father. He prayed for you and me and others who believe through the message we share.  The number one way others will believe is by watching how well we get along. When I taught children I told them to have JOY you need to put

Jesus first

Others next

Yourself last.

BUT... so the world may know (John 14:31)

But… so that the world may know
that I love the Father, and just as the Father has commanded me, thus I am doing.
Get up, let us go from here!

On this father’s day I can’t think of a better verse. This is Jesus speaking His desire is to go see His Father. What a great example and a way to show the world that you love the Father. Go to Him today. As you spend time with your earthly father I pray you will make time for your heavenly Father as well. 

BUT... take heart (John 16:33)

When I saw this picture it reminded my or the tornadoes in Oklahoma. I am so glad GOD is in control even when we don't understand what is going on.
